[ Jack doesn't flinch away from the kiss — in fact, he doesn't move at all. he goes unnaturally still, more so than any human is capable of because he doesn't blink, doesn't breathe. spiderwebs of frost spread over his face as it flares with cold instead of heat, and inside his chest his false heartbeat does something strange, like it sparks; like lightning.
when she moves away, he still doesn't snap out of his daze. he stares at her wide-eyed, very much the look of a startled deer, the cool colors of his blush reaching high on his cheeks, tinged at the tips of his ears and down his neck. there's a moment where it seems like he's going to speak, but all that comes out of his mouth is a cracked sound, ah— and the attempt breathes out mist and glittering ice. he's gone so cold that it bleeds into the air around him.
he's been kissed on the cheek by Loki once or twice, but this is so different. because that's playful, it's teasing; it still makes Jack feel like his magic might just sputter out and he'll just die, but he knows what a kiss like that means and it's something that can be safely filed away. what is he expected to do with this? it's affection, of course, (and it makes him light-headed to think of that, choked and overwhelmed) but it's— this is— it seems like a mistake. it's too much to be given to him and he can't imagine what Katniss is thinking or how she feels towards him, what happened to cause — this. for Jack Frost, who's never— who would never— ]
Um.
[ that's as coherent as he can manage. at least he's definitely not displeased or upset by the kiss; he just looks... lost. ]
